Living a story worth telling. Shining a light on stories worth sharing.

Pappy’s Appeal & Prayer

My husband’s Grandpa wrote this. It’s the most beautiful thing I’ve read in a while and really moved me.

This is America’s greatest problem. Mister Floyd’s passing by violence at the hands of those who have taken an oath to “serve and protect.” Petition your representative in the House, and your Senator to pass laws against this hatred caused merely because some persons have a darker skin color.

We must keep this in the minds of all Americans, now and until something positive is done to alleviate this terrible problem America is suffering. And as Doctor Martin Luther King Junior himself has said, “riots are not the answer because they bring about greater social unrest and destruction of others property.” (I paraphrased this great man.).

My own blood (my grandchildren) are Black. Because of their youth, I must be the spokesman for them as the patriarch of my family. I have this vested interest: because when I was a young married man in the United States Army, my wife and I were traveling to my parents’ home in Pennsylvania on a furlough from Fort Knox, Kentucky.

As we entered Virginia, and riding on a bus, the driver pulled over, came over to my wife and I and said, “You two have to move to the back of the bus!” I’m not going to waste any more of your time, you already know what happened next. Why? Because my wife is Hawaii-born Japanese American. So, today I am so blessed by our Lord God to have a family that includes Asian, Black, Caucasian and Latino.

May God bless America, ALL lives matter, and for those who are not being shown that respect now, action must be taken to ensure those words in the Constitution, “all men are created equal” is made true! I pray these things to come about for all mankind, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
