December in Hawai’i & a Christmas Haiku

A Christmas Haiku

So this is Christmas -

sleeping in, sunshine, warm seas,

peace and palm trees.

Hawai’i Life flew me over to Kauai for a long weekend, so of course Patrick and I had to adventure while we were there. This swinging bridge is in the quaint town of Hanapepe.

One of the many chickens roaming around Kauai. I found this one particularly stunning!

We were blessed to spend a morning volunteering at the Alakoko Fishponds, cleaning mangrove out of the brackish water as part of ongoing fishpond restoration efforts.

Before we flew home, we drove the long, windy road up to the lodge in Kōkeʻe State Park for its famous chili! The views of Waimea Canyon along the way were epic!
